Girls' Generation Nabs Top Spot On Oricon Singles Chart With 'Galaxy Supernova'
Without a doubt, the nine members of Girls' Generation are some of the most recognizable and beloved ladies in K-Pop. Whenever they release a new song, it is almost a guarantee that it is going to chart well.
The same can be said of the girl group's latest Japanese single, "Galaxy Supernova."
Released on September 18, the song instantly ranked fourth on Oricon, Japan's go-to singles chart. Now, it has taken over the coveted number one spot.
According to Oricon, "Galaxy Supernova" jumped to first place the second day of release after selling over 14,500 copies, setting a much faster selling pace than the group's other Japanese singles.
The song is also being used in conjunction with Girls' Generation's latest Japanese endorsement deal with the fashion company Samantha Tavasa which outfitted the gals for the accompanying music video.
"Galaxy Supernova" is the group's eighth official Japanese single and it is a catchy one.
The hook-filled electro-pop tune is a fun, upbeat release for the group, even if rather simple and lackluster compared to their previous releases in the country such as "Flower Power" or "Love & Girls."
The new single, and its newly achieved number one ranking do, however, prove that it is really hard for Girls' Generation to disappoint their fans.
